CROPS is proud to present a night of creativity and experimenting making old clothes new again together with illustrator and silkscreen printer Lauren Jaye Squires
Ever wanted to make designs on clothes?
Now you can! This group is about exploration of creativity and using your hands. Materials will be provided, all you have to do is bring an item of clothing (as many as you want!) and customise. The method is called transfer printing which uses a heat press to apply the ink to the garment. This is a very clean and professional way of working with great end results.
The concept of the night is to be an experimental and relaxing evening crafting something with materials that are provided.
There are limitless possibilities with the materials that will be provided. Its mainly going to be collaging different colours and shapes together as well as a few illustrations Ive made to create your own designs.
The transfers are made by screenprinting areas of colour or designs and then applying powder glue to wet ink and then drying that so that the glue is melted into the ink. This gives the transfer a soft feel and stretches with the fabric, looks and feels really nice!
